Remember what we said about the second golden age of music video?
We now present exhibit #2:
On August 22nd, YepRoc Records will release Zeno Beach, the first album of all-new material from Australia’s punk rock pioneers Radio Birdman since their breakup 25 years ago. As if that wasn’t enough, there are US tour dates too:
8/30 - Los Angeles / Wiltern Theatre
8/31 - San Francisco / Great American Music Hall
9/1 - Seattle, WA / El Corazon
9/2 - Chicago, IL / Double Door
9/3 - Detroit, MI / Majestic Theatre
9/5 - Cleveland, OH / Beachland Ballroom
9/6 - Washington, DC / Black Cat
9/8 - New York, NY / Irving Plaza
9/9 - Cambridge, MA / Middle East
9/10 - Philadelphia, PA / First Unitarian Church
So how ’bout an Atlanta date guys?
Access Hollywood has the scoop.
Boy George drew a bigger crowd of people to watch him pick up trash this morning than he’s probably drawn to hear him sing in years. There must be a lesson in there somewhere…
The good folks at Pitchfork Media report:
Sorry everybody, no Shins in 2006. The life-changing band’s third album, originally slated to come out later this year, has been delayed until early 2007… In the meantime, we can tide ourselves over with the knowledge that a bluegrass tribute to the Shins is in the works, brought to us by Iron Horse, the same people responsible for the Modest Mouse, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, and Led Zeppelin bluegrass tribute albums. Oh lordy.
Holy moly — there’s trouble in the podosphere! Seems as though Warner Bros. might be putting out a fake indie podcast in what appears to be a pathetically misguided effort to trick people into listening to more Better Than Ezra. Says Podcasting News:
We asked (Bands Under The Radar host Kami) Knake whether her podcast, which has a low-budget “indie” quality to it, is in fact an official corporate podcast made on behalf of Warner Brothers Records.
“It’s something I started before I came to WBR,” said Knake. “I do play WBR artists, but that’s by choice. My podcast has nothing to do with WBR.
”
While Knake’s official word is that her podcast has nothing to do with Warner Brothers, Bands Under the Radar features Warner Brothers artists, is created by a Warner Brothers employee and is delivered from Warner Brothers’ servers.
First the payola scandal, and now this? Oh the humanity! Get the whole sordid tale here.
The fine folks at AT&T, who are gonna end up being your phone company no matter what, are streaming into your home the entirety of Lollapalooza, that is, if you care about that sorta thing. It’s all part of their Blue Room dealy-bob. The Fest is this weekend, August 4th through the 6th. The line-up this year is 130 acts long, performing on 8 stages and includes such acts as Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie, The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, Sleater-Kinney, and many, many more (125 more, dummass). Gosh, I just noticed those acts I just listed (and many, many more) are all available in our shop!
Also, AT&T’s Blue Room will be streaming the Austin City Limits Music Festival when that goes down in September. I might remind you.
