Things To Do: Summer Shade Festival

Friday, August 24th, 2007

This weekend, just a hop, skip and a jump from Rockhead HQ, is the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival. There’s the usual festival fare, (artist market, funnel cakes, beer, port-a-johns…) but there’s a pretty good line-up of local bands too. Check out the line-up here.

See ya in the park!

Things To Do: Corndogorama

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Corndogorama moves to Lenny’s Bar this year. Will more space = more fun? I’m thinkin’ so. Lots of Rockhead faves are on the bill, including Luigi, Magnapop, The Orphins, Jupiter Watts, Snowden, Hubcap City, Blake Rainey & His Demons, and many others. Plus — there’s a corndog eating contest at 4:30 on Saturday! See ya there!

Time For A Kwik-E-Mart Run!

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

In what has to be one of the coolest and most complex movie tie-ins ever, 7-Eleven has converted eleven of their stores into Kwik-E-Marts to celebrate the pending release of The Simpsons Movie. In addition to wrapping the chosen stores in cartoony garb and sinage, they’re also stocking items from the Springfield Kwik-E-Mart on the shelves! You simply must check out either this photo gallery here, or maybe this one here, because you have to see it to fully appreciate it. And yes, the donuts are frosted pink with sprinkles.

Chaz’s Kwik-E-Mart Shopping List:

  • 6 Pack of Buzz Cola
  • Box of Krusty Os
  • Kwik-E-Mart Styrofoam Cooler

Unfortunately there’s not one anywhere near the Atlanta area, the closest is in Orlando– about 450 miles away from Rockhead World Headquarters. That’s quite a hike to make through Georgia and Florida in July just to sate my Squishy fix.

So, who’s driving?
